Edward Mercieca

Managing Director

Edward started FM Theatre Productions with his wife Marika way back in 1998 with a vision to open up the first Musical Theatre School in Malta as well as to produce local theatre. Since then, FM Theatre Productions have seen over 8 thousand students attending Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools and have produced over 20 productions, from Musicals to straight plays to Pantomimes. Edward, who has been involved in the theatre scene for over 30 years is better known for his huge Panto Dames. He has been involved in very different genres of theatre and theatre styles, from Shakespeare to Panto and from Musical Theatre to straight drama. Edward is a Newcastle supporter and loves a bit of Cricket on his days off. 

Marika Mercieca

Director

Marika Mercieca has been involved in the theatre scene for the past 35 years. Her love for theatre began when she was 14 years old and since then has worked in various productions . She has gained experience on stage and TV as an actress as well as an executive producer for various productions for FM Theatre Productions. In 1998 Marika co-founded the Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools (Malta) franchise and since then has seen it grow successfully. In her free time, Marika loves to...Marika doesn't have free time. 

Luke Mercieca

Executive Producer

Luke is a graduate from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama with a masters degree in Creative Producing. Luke also studied at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, achieving a BA (Hon) in Drama & Performance. Luke has currently been an executive producer for FM Theatre Productions since 2013. His recent producing credits include; Butterflies are Free, Fiddler on The Roof, Pinocchio - The Panto, Robin Hood meets the babes in the Wood, My Fair Lady, Mamma Mia & Sleeping Beauty. Luke is also a local actor. His recent acting credits are for FM include, Fender (Hairspray), Kallu (Cinderella) and Ali (Ali Baba - The Panto), Don (Butterflies are Free) as well as Nikos (Legally Blonde- Mellow Drama), Borachio (Much Ado About Nothing - MADC) and Salerio (Merchant of Venice - MADC).

Tonella Muscat

Head Of Administrations

Tonella has been involved with FM Theatre Productions since 1998. Apart from being Head of Administrations, Tonella has been the Principal of Stagecoach Birkirkara school since it opened in 2000. Ever since joining FM, Tonella has formed part of our backstage team and has been invovled in major productions such as Chicago, High School Musical, Hairspray, Oliver!, The Wiz, Beauty and the Beast, Fiddler on the Roof and various Pantomimes amongst others. Tonella looks forward to her Sundays where she can chill out on her boat with her husband and 2 children.

Head of Sportskidz

Throughout the majority of Edward's life, he has grown up in a culture of arts and sports. Edward has seen the benefits that performing arts has had on children. When they walk into a class for the first time, very shy, and by the end of the term they are bouncing off the walls. Edward really wants to bring this out in children through sports as he believes that sports can have the same effect on kids. Through his experience in different sporting activities, Edward really believes in the advantages of sports education. Edward firmly believes that through sports children can grow in confidence, achieving life long skills.

Antonella Mifsud

Coordinator

Antonella has recently graduated with an MA in Theatre and Performance, following a BA in Maltese. She started her theatre training at Stagecoach, later joined TMYT and has perfromed in Malta, Oxford, Glasgow and Edinburgh. This lead her to start creating and performing pieces for TOITOI and creating and running workshops at St James Cavalier. She currently works for FM Theatre and Stagecoach through whom she's directed 'Shrek the Musical Jr' at Istitut Kattoliku; 'Hey Jude' in Gardaland and 'Beauty and the Beast' in Birmingham. She recently co-directed 'Baxx Baxx' at the Manoel Theatre under Grokk Teatru which she co-founded and whose credits also include 'Mikhal' which won best production at the Malta International Theatre Festival. She has also directed a number of Students Fests at University and was part of ‘Facing the Gap’ theatre conference in Hungary with Unifaun Theatre. Acting Credits include ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ (Ensamble), ‘Pinocchio’ (Cat), ‘Robin Hood’ (Alana Dale) by FM theatre; ‘Romeo and Juliet’ (Nurse) by MADC; ‘Sister Act’ (Sr Mary Lazarus) at UOM.

It is run by local theatre veterans Edward and Marika Mercieca. Its main objectives are to provide top quality theatre productions and High end education in the performing arts specifically for children and young adults . FM Theatre Productions also provides a professional casting service to the foreign and local film and television industries.

What We Do.

FM Theatre Productions is the leading theatre producer in Malta. The company has gained a reputation of quality, excellence and professionalism through the success of its theatre productions since 1999. Major shows include blockbusters such as Chicago, Fiddler On The Roof, Hairspray, High School Musical, massively successful Christmas Pantomimes, Cinderella, Ali Baba and Pinocchio, as well as sellout shows like Allo Allo, Are You Being Served and The Vagina Monologues, to name a few. The company also produced hugely successful less commercial shows such as Red, Seascape and Side by Side by Sondheim.

FM Theatre Productions also is the franchisee for Stagecoach Theatre Arts Schools (Malt). Stagecoach Malta is the largest part time performance arts school on the Island with centre spread around the country. The school has an excellent reputation and this is evident in the continuous growth is experiences year in year out.
